A rustic beam corbel is a wood-textured polyurethane decorative element that gives wooden beams or brackets the look of being supported from below. It is typically used at the ends of ceiling beams and beneath projecting shelves and brackets as a load-bearing-style ornamental feature. The polyurethane material is lightweight and applied directly with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted any colour. Unlike real wood, it does not absorb moisture and swell, and it is not attacked by insects; compared with plaster it is lighter and more break-resistant. Because the wood grain and knot details on the surface are mould-produced, they repeat identically on every piece.
