The ceiling-wall joint refers to the corner line where the ceiling surface meets the wall; this line is closed with a polyurethane cornice or trim to form a clean transition. It is completed with a decorative element in living rooms, hallways and offices to conceal the angle and any irregularities at the corner, and to create an indirect light channel for lighting. The polyurethane cornice is lightweight; it is applied directly to the corner with mounting adhesive and needs no support. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted. Compared to plaster it is lighter and faster to install, and unlike wood it is unaffected by moisture.
