A wood-alternative onlay is a wood-look polyurethane wall ornament used in place of a real carved wooden onlay. It is used as a decorative relief on furniture, doors, cabinet fronts and wall surfaces. The polyurethane material is lightweight; it is glued directly with assembly adhesive. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack, blister or peel, and can be painted. Unlike carved wood it is not attacked by insects, is unaffected by moisture and, being series-produced, is more affordable. As it is mould-cast, the carving details repeat identically on every piece.
