The P8031 polyurethane decorative ornament serves as a premium architectural element designed to introduce rich classical textures to ceilings, walls, and bespoke furniture. Shaped as a highly detailed circular rosette, this medallion bridges the gap between historical craftsmanship and modern material engineering, offering an efficient yet lightweight alternative to traditional plaster or heavy wooden carvings.
Engineered from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-220 kg/m³), the P8031 boasts the structural firmness of solid wood while remaining exceptionally easy to handle. Measuring 375x375 mm with a prominent 3D depth of 65 mm, this ornament exhibits superb dimensional stability, ensuring it will not warp, shrink, or crack over time. With a water absorption rate of less than one percent, its closed-cell composition makes it resistant to moisture, rot, and insects, allowing for reliable performance in both high-humidity interiors and demanding exterior environments.
The visual composition of the P8031 is highly intricate, featuring a central recessed core that seamlessly accommodates light fixtures or chandelier cabling. Radiating from this center is a beautifully stylized floral motif with undulating petals, enveloped by deep-relief acanthus leaves that create a dynamic play of light and shadow. The outer circumference is punctuated by delicate, elevated five-petal blossoms, adding a layer of delicate charm to the overall symmetrical geometry of the piece.
This versatile medallion can be utilized across a variety of applications. Indoors, it serves as a stunning ceiling rose framing chandeliers in dining halls, hotel lobbies, or living rooms, or as a focal point within elaborate wall paneling layouts. On exterior facades, it functions beautifully as a decorative pediment accent, under-eave ornament, or entry gate embellishment, provided it is finished with a UV-resistant topcoat to protect against sunlight exposure.
The product arrives with a factory-applied primer that prepares the surface for finishing. While this base coat facilitates easy paint adhesion, paint manufacturers generally recommend applying an optional extra primer matching their specific paint line to secure full product warranties. The ornament can be easily customized with water-based or synthetic paints. Installation is highly efficient, requiring only a compatible adhesive and minimal mechanical fastening, eliminating the high labor costs and structural risks associated with heavy plaster medallions.

- If using the medallion for a ceiling light, drill a central hole for the wiring
- Apply a generous bead of high-quality polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive to the back rim of the ornament
- Press the medallion firmly against the surface, and secure it mechanically using thin screws or brad nails to hold it in place while the adhesive cures
- Once fixed, fill the screw holes and any minor perimeter gaps with a high-grade acrylic filler or joint sealant
- Allow it to dry completely, then gently sand the filled areas using 180-220 grit sandpaper for a smooth finish
- Finally, apply an optional layer of paint-manufacturer-approved primer if desired, followed by two coats of your chosen water-based or synthetic paint
- Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details
- For indoor installations, routine dusting with a soft duster or wiping with a slightly damp microfiber cloth is sufficient to keep the deep relief details clean
- Avoid using harsh chemical solvents, abrasive cleaners, or stiff brushes, as these can damage the paint finish
- For outdoor facade applications, we recommend inspecting the paint and joint sealants annually
- If necessary, the surface can be gently washed with mild soapy water and recoated with a UV-resistant paint every few years to maintain its vibrant appearance and protect the underlying material from solar degradation
Can the P8031 medallion be used for exterior facade decoration?
Yes, the P8031 is fully suitable for outdoor use. Made from closed-cell rigid polyurethane, it has low water absorption (below 1%), crack in freezing temperatures, or rot. To ensure long-lasting durability, it must be finished with a high-quality UV-resistant exterior paint to protect it from yellowing under direct sunlight.
How do I prepare the P8031 for painting, and is an extra primer necessary?
The medallion comes pre-treated with a factory-applied primer that prepares the surface for finishing coats. However, because paint manufacturers do not guarantee paint adhesion without their proprietary primers, applying an optional extra primer recommended by your paint brand is highly suggested for optimal results. It can then be painted with any standard water-based or synthetic paint.
What type of adhesive should I use to mount this medallion?
For a secure and lasting installation, you must use a high-quality polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive. Do not use standard silicone adhesives, as they do not provide the necessary structural bond for polyurethane ornaments over time. Mechanical fastening with screws or nails is also recommended during the curing process.
Can I run electrical wires through the center of this ornament for a chandelier?
Yes. The P8031 features a hollow central core specifically designed to accommodate electrical wiring. You can easily drill through the lightweight polyurethane material to create a custom-sized opening for your light fixture's mounting hardware and cables without risking cracks.
How does this polyurethane medallion compare to traditional plaster rosettes?
Unlike heavy, brittle plaster rosettes, the P8031 is extremely lightweight and shatter-resistant, making installation safer and faster. It does not require complex wire lashing to hold its weight. Additionally, it is moisture-resistant, helping resist crumbling, mold, or decay in humid environments like bathrooms or outdoor porches.
