A wood-alternative motif is a wood-look polyurethane decorative relief used in place of a real carved wooden motif. It is used as ornamentation on furniture, doors, walls and ceiling surfaces. The polyurethane material is lightweight; it is glued directly with assembly adhesive. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack, blister or peel, and can be painted. Unlike carved wood it is not attacked by insects, is unaffected by moisture and, being series-produced, is more affordable. As it is mould-cast, the motif details repeat identically on every piece.
