Wood-alternative ornamentation is the general name for wood-look polyurethane ornamental elements used in place of real wood ornamentation work. It is used to give a decorative relief and carved look to furniture, doors, walls and ceiling surfaces. The polyurethane material is lightweight; it is applied directly with assembly adhesive. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack, blister or peel, and can be painted. Compared with wood it is not attacked by insects, is unaffected by moisture and, thanks to series production, costs less. As it is mould-cast, the ornamentation details repeat identically on every piece. Polure produces wood-alternative ornamentation in a range of sizes and patterns.
