Gold leaf polyurethane products are decorative polyurethane elements finished with gold leaf or a gold-toned gilding on their surface. They are used in classical and neoclassical interiors for parts such as cornices, surrounds, ceiling medallions, mirror frames and wall mouldings. Polyurethane is lightweight and is applied directly with assembly adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell. The surface is first primed, then leaf or gilding is applied to achieve the gold appearance. Compared with a plaster equivalent it is lighter and more break-resistant, which makes handling and installation easier.
