A decorative ceiling motif is a relief-patterned polyurethane ornament applied to the ceiling surface. It is used to add pattern to specific areas of the ceiling, around a medallion or in the corners. The polyurethane body is light and is fixed directly to the ceiling with construction adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, blister or warp, and can be painted in any colour. Because it is moulded, the motif details repeat with the same sharpness on every piece. Being lighter than its plaster equivalent, it adds no extra load to the ceiling and installs quickly.
