Exterior columns and capitals refer together to the column shafts used on a building facade and the capital elements that sit on top of those shafts. The capital is located above the column and connects the shaft to the structure above; in classical orders it can be Doric, Ionic or Corinthian. Polyurethane columns and capitals are lightweight and applied with construction adhesive; they resist moisture, rain and outdoor weather, do not crack or blister, and can be painted with exterior facade paint. Because they weigh less than stone or plaster, they add no extra load to the facade and install faster. As they are mould-cast, the capital details repeat identically on every piece.
