The ionic order capital is a polyurethane column capital of the classical Ionic order, recognised by the volute ornaments curling on either side. The Ionic order is one of the classical column orders alongside the Doric and Corinthian, and this capital forms the column-top element of that order. It is used above columns and pilasters. Polyurethane is lightweight; it is applied with mounting adhesive, resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Being lighter than stone and plaster, it is easy to install at height. Because it is mould-cast, the volute details repeat identically on every piece.
