arched surround design

An arched surround design is an arrangement in which the upper part of the surround framing a window or door opening is resolved with a curved arch form. On classical and neoclassical facades it is used when a curved upper line is preferred instead of a straight surround; the side surrounds and the upper arch profile together form a continuous frame. It is usually completed with a keystone. Polyurethane is lightweight and applied to the facade with mounting adhesive and screws; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or blister, and can be painted with exterior facade paint. It is lighter and faster to install than a plaster surround. Being mould-cast, the arch and surround profile is identical on every piece.
