Arched Surround Application

An arched surround application is the work of placing a curved, arch-form polyurethane surround on a single window or door opening. In classical and neoclassical buildings it is carried out to add an arch line to the top of the opening and form a continuous frame with the side surrounds; it is usually completed with a keystone. The polyurethane surround is lightweight and attaches to the surface with mounting adhesive, with joints closed using filler; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or blister, and is paintable. Being lighter than its plaster equivalent, installation is fast. Being mould-cast, the arch profile is identical on every piece.
