Carved Corbel

A carved corbel is a decorative polyurethane support piece with a carved-motif surface that carries horizontal elements such as cornices, eaves or shelves from below. Beneath cornices, at eave ends and under shelves it gives a diagonal support look while serving a decorative purpose with its carved ornamentation. The polyurethane material is lightweight; it is applied with construction adhesive and, where needed, screws, resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Unlike wood corbels it is moisture-resistant, and unlike plaster it is not brittle. Because it is mould-cast, the carved details are the same on every piece.
