faux wood rafter

A faux wood rafter is a decorative roof/ceiling element made from hollow polyurethane that imitates the look of a wooden rafter. It is used on a sloped ceiling or under the eaves, purely for appearance instead of a real structural rafter, to create a rustic look. Polyurethane is lightweight; being far lighter than real timber, it can be carried by one person and fixed with construction adhesive and blocks. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or rot, and can be painted. Compared with a timber equivalent, it is unaffected by damp, does not attract insects and installs quickly.
