Fluted Column Covering

Fluted column covering is the practice of covering the surface of a load-bearing column with vertically grooved polyurethane elements. It is used to even out, conceal and give a column appearance to an existing concrete or steel column. The flutes add vertical lines and a light-and-shadow transition to the covering, creating a classical architectural effect. Being made of polyurethane, the covering pieces are lightweight and easily bonded with adhesive to wrap around the column; they resist moisture and impact and do not crack or warp. Since the surface can be painted, it can be adapted to a marble or any desired colour effect. Polure produces fluted column covering elements with standard flute spacing for different diameters and heights; when the pieces are joined, the flute line continues cleanly. Used with capital and base complements, the column gains a unified appearance and dimensional consistency is preserved after installation.

They serve a similar purpose; both cover an existing column with grooved polyurethane pieces to give it a column look.

Yes, it can be painted after priming; marble or stone effect finishes can also be applied.

Can it be used outdoors?

Since polyurethane resists moisture, with proper installation and paint it can also be used on exterior facade columns.
