Decorative furniture appliques are relief polyurethane motif elements bonded to furniture surfaces. They are used on items such as cabinets, wardrobes, headboards and consoles to add relief ornamentation and classical motifs to a flat surface. The polyurethane applique is lightweight and is applied directly to the surface with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted to match the furniture colour. Being light and flat-backed compared to a carved wood applique, it is easy to install. Because it is mould-produced, the motif details repeat identically on every piece.
