A decorative ceiling rose is a round or oval ornamented polyurethane element placed at the centre of the ceiling, usually at the point where the chandelier hangs. It is used to frame the chandelier and create a focal point at the centre of the ceiling. Heavily patterned options are preferred for classic ceilings, while plain forms suit modern designs. The polyurethane material is lightweight and applied to the ceiling with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or blister, and can be painted. Being far lighter than a plaster rose, it can be installed by one person and adds no load to the ceiling. As it is mould-cast, the motif details repeat identically on every piece.
