A doric column capital is a plain, geometric column capital belonging to the Doric order of classical architecture. It consists of a cushion-shaped echinus and a flat plate (abacus); it carries no ornament and provides a simple top finish. It is fitted to the top of the column shaft to complete the Doric order. Polyurethane is lightweight and resistant to moisture and impact; it will not crack, blister and can be painted. Being far lighter than its stone or plaster equivalent, it is easily fixed to the top of the column with construction adhesive.
