Classical Polyurethane Column Capital for Decorative Pillars

The P5220I architectural capital represents a refined solution for crowning decorative pillars, capturing the essence of historical Hellenic architecture. Designed to transition seamlessly between the vertical shaft of a column and the horizontal architrave, this component elevates the visual weight of any structural or ornamental support. It serves as an essential element for architects and designers seeking to implement neoclassical, classical, or Mediterranean aesthetics in contemporary building designs.

Engineered with precise dimensions of 236 mm in width, 316 mm in length, and 124 mm in height, this medium-scaled header fits standard pilasters and decorative posts. It is manufactured from a high-density rigid polymer (150-220 kg/m³), offering a density comparable to wood but with a much lighter weight. This engineered material ensures exceptional dimensional stability, resisting shrinkage, expansion, and warping. With dimensional stability tested between -20 °C and +70 °C and a water absorption rate below 1%, it maintains its structural integrity under diverse climatic conditions.

Visually, the P5220I displays the iconic volute spirals characteristic of the ancient Greek Ionic order. The side profiles feature deep, symmetrical scrolls that frame a central ornamental band detailed with relief carvings. These sharp, molded lines achieve a level of definition that traditional plaster or carved timber struggles to replicate consistently. The closed-cell structure of the material ensures these intricate motifs remain sharp and free from decay over time.

This versatile component is suitable for both indoor renovations and outdoor facade projects. In exterior applications, it is commonly utilized to ornament veranda supports, pergola posts, grand entranceways, and villa porticos. Indoors, it acts as a majestic capital for columns in hotel lobbies, formal dining halls, and luxury residential salons. Its robust composition makes it highly resistant to impacts, making it ideal for high-traffic commercial environments.

Installation is significantly more efficient than working with heavy stone or fragile gypsum. The lightweight nature of the product eliminates the need for heavy hoisting equipment and minimizes structural stress on the building. Fixation requires a clean, dry substrate, a 45-degree miter cut where applicable, and the application of a high-quality polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive, supplemented by mechanical screws for a secure hold. The factory-applied primer prepares the surface for final coating; however, paint manufacturers do not guarantee their products without their own primer. Therefore, an additional undercoat is optional and remains at the installer's discretion. Polure does not guarantee third-party paint performance.
