over-door motif
An over-door motif is a relief-patterned polyurethane decorative element placed above a door opening. It is used to ornament the doorway and create a focal point on the wall surface. The polyurethane is lightweight and applies directly with construction adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Compared with plaster it is lighter and more resistant to breakage. Because the pieces are mould-cast, the relief detail of the motif repeats identically on every unit. Polure produces over-door motifs in a range of patterns and sizes.
