classical architectural ceiling medallion

A classical architectural ceiling medallion is a decorative ceiling element applied to the central area of the ceiling, usually round or oval and ornamented with classical motifs. It is used to frame the area around chandeliers and light fittings and to give the ceiling a central accent. Medallions made from polyurethane are lightweight; unlike plaster versions they are carried by a single person and fitted with construction adhesive. They resist moisture and impact, will not crack or swell, and can be painted. Because they are mould-cast, the relief motif details repeat identically on every piece.
