polyurethane base rail

A polyurethane base rail is a horizontal profile piece used in railing and balustrade systems below the handrail or on top of the newel posts, carrying the balusters and joining them together. It serves as the lower or upper rail for the balusters in balcony, terrace and stair railings. The material is lightweight and bonds directly with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, will not crack, swell or warp, and takes paint well. Outdoors, unlike plaster it is unaffected by moisture and temperature change, and unlike timber it does not rot. Because each piece is cast from a mould, the cross-section repeats identically and matches the baluster dimensions. Polure produces base rails in a range of sizes and sections.
