A polyurethane column shaft is the long main section of a decorative column, located between the capital and the base. The shaft can have a plain cylindrical or fluted (grooved) surface and is the part that defines the column's height. It is used as part of a set together with the capital and base, in indoor and outdoor facades and in entrance and hall arrangements. The polyurethane shaft is lighter than stone or concrete; it can be carried by one person and applied with installation adhesive. The material resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or peel, and can be painted, so it can also be used outdoors.
