faux wood beam

A faux wood beam is a decorative ceiling beam made from hollow polyurethane that imitates the look of a wooden beam. It is used purely for appearance instead of a real structural beam, to create a rural or rustic look on the ceiling. Polyurethane is lightweight; being far lighter than real timber, it can be carried by one person and fixed to the ceiling with construction adhesive and blocks. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or rot, and can be painted. Compared with a timber equivalent, it is unaffected by damp, does not attract insects and installs quickly. Because it is mould-cast, the wood-grain texture repeats identically on every piece. Polure produces the faux wood beam in a range of sizes and textures.
