column base piece

A column base piece is the polyurethane base placed at the lower end of a column shaft, seating the shaft on the floor to provide visual continuity. It is used to emphasise where the column meets the floor. The polyurethane base is lightweight and applied with installation adhesive to the floor and shaft; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Being lighter than a stone or gypsum base, it can be carried and installed by a single person. Polure produces the column base in different sizes matched to the shaft diameter using moulds, with the profile detail repeating identically on every piece.
