Technical Performance and Material Engineering

Our Short Roman Pillars series is manufactured with a high-density molded polymer core, engineered to exhibit a physical density of 150-220 kg/m³ (production target ~160 kg/m³). This specific material density provides a surface hardness comparable to natural softwood, ensuring excellent resistance to impact while remaining light enough to prevent any dead-load issues on suspended floors or retrofitted structural assemblies. The closed-cell microstructure of the material ensures a moisture absorption rate of less than 1%, rendering the columns impervious to rot, swelling, mold, and insect damage.

From a thermal standpoint, these architectural elements maintain complete dimensional stability within a temperature range of -100 °C / +80 °C. Unlike wood or gypsum plaster, they do not suffer from thermal expansion, shrinkage, or warping when exposed to rapid seasonal shifts. Furthermore, the material exhibits self-extinguishing fire-retardant properties, meaning it will not propagate flame once the external ignition source is removed.

Geometric Diversity: Full Columns, Half Columns, and Pilasters

To accommodate diverse spatial layouts, the Short Roman Pillars product range includes several structural profiles designed to integrate seamlessly into complex wall assemblies and open floor plans:

• Full Round Columns (e.g., P83000, P83001): These free-standing elements provide 360-degree visual geometry, making them ideal as decorative pedestals, entry markers, or structural dividers in spacious lobbies.
• Engaged Half Columns (e.g., P83001I, P83000I): Perfect for application directly against flat surfaces, these profiles project outward to simulate semi-recessed structural supports.
• Pilasters and Flat Columns (e.g., P83001C, P83000D): These models feature low-profile projections that introduce vertical rhythm and classical proportions to plain wall surfaces without encroaching on usable floor space.

With diameters ranging from 350 to 356 mm and heights such as 1070 mm (as seen in model P83005), these components conform strictly to classical architectural proportions, ensuring that capitols, shafts, and bases align perfectly with historical design standards.

Surface Preparation and Coating Compatibility

Every column from the Short Roman Pillars series is delivered with a factory-applied primer coat. This factory surface treatment prepares the polymer substrate for final painting, ensuring optimal adhesion for both water-based and synthetic topcoats. However, please note that applying an additional specialized primer is an optional step and remains the sole decision of the customer. Paint manufacturers typically do not extend performance warranties to painted surfaces unless their own brand-specific primers are applied first. Polure does not guarantee paint durability and accepts no liability for third-party coating applications. For exterior installations, the application of a high-grade, UV-resistant topcoat is mandatory to prevent natural color shifting and yellowing of the polymer under direct sunlight.
