The P83006C decorative column serves as an exceptional architectural element designed to bring classic structural beauty into modern luxury environments. Functioning perfectly as a short pedestal or a half-height decorative divider, this component features a beautifully contoured design that visually elevates any space. It provides an immediate sense of scale and architectural order, making it an excellent choice for grand entrances, spacious halls, and refined interior designs.
Engineered from a premium rigid polymer with a density of 150-220 kg/m³, this model offers a wood-like hardness while remaining remarkably lightweight and easy to handle. Measuring 350x350 mm at the base and top with a height of 1070 mm, it is perfectly proportioned for supporting decorative urns, sculptures, or floral arrangements. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, the material boasts a water absorption rate of less than 1% and has dimensional stability tested between -20 °C and +70 °C, preventing any warping or cracking over time.
Visually, the column is defined by its striking helical spiral fluting along the shaft, creating a dynamic sense of upward movement. This is crowned by a highly detailed Corinthian-style capital adorned with rich acanthus leaves and delicate volutes. The factory-applied primer coat creates a smooth, receptive surface. While this initial coating prepares the product for final finishes, paint manufacturers typically require their own specific base coats for full warranty coverage; consequently, applying an additional primer remains entirely optional based on your project requirements.
This versatile architectural feature excels in both indoor and outdoor settings. In luxury residential projects, it can be used to flank grand staircases, frame entryway portals, or define transitions between living areas. For commercial venues like boutique hotels, upscale restaurants, and wedding halls, it acts as a premium prop or structural accent. When used outdoors on patios, garden terraces, or balconies, applying a high-quality UV-resistant paint is mandatory to protect the material from sunlight-induced discoloration.
Compared to traditional plaster which is heavy and brittle, or wood which is susceptible to rot and insect damage, this high-density material offers long-lasting durability and sharp detail retention. Installation is straightforward: ensure the mounting surface is clean and dry, secure the column using a specialized polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive, and reinforce the connection with mechanical screws. After filling the joint lines and screw heads with a suitable filler, a light sanding with 180-220 grit prepares the piece for its final coats of water-based or synthetic paint.
- This short Roman column is highly versatile and fits beautifully in both residential and commercial spaces
- Indoors, use it in grand entryways, foyers, or living rooms as an elegant pedestal to showcase fine sculptures, classical busts, or large indoor plants
- It can also be placed symmetrically to flank fireplaces, doorways, or home theater screens to create a balanced, neoclassical layout
- Outdoors, it is perfect for patios, terraces, and garden landscapes, serving as a decorative support for garden urns or as a standalone architectural feature
- In commercial spaces such as hotel lobbies, wedding venues, and high-end restaurants, these columns are ideal for defining walkways, framing stages, or adding structural depth near reception areas
- Ensure the installation surface is dry, clean, and level
- Apply a generous bead of polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive to the base and top contact points
- For safety and structural stability, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory
- Once secured, fill screw holes and joints with a high-quality exterior-grade joint filler
- After drying, sand the filled areas using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- Apply an optional additional primer coat if required by your paint manufacturer, and finish with two coats of premium water-based or synthetic paint
- If installing outdoors, a UV-resistant topcoat is strictly required
- Maintenance is simple and hassle-free
- The non-porous surface can be wiped clean using a damp microfiber cloth and mild soap
- For outdoor installations, high-pressure water washing can be used gently, but avoid using harsh acidic or abrasive chemical cleaners that might degrade the paint finish
- Periodically inspect the paint coating on outdoor columns to ensure the UV protection remains intact
Can this short column be used in outdoor garden landscapes?
Yes, it is fully suitable for outdoor use. Made from a closed-cell polymer with less than 1% water absorption, it will not rot, swell, or decay when exposed to rain or humidity. However, to prevent yellowing from solar exposure, you must coat the column with a high-quality UV-resistant outdoor paint.
What is the best way to paint and prepare the column surface?
The column arrives with a factory-applied primer. While this prepares the surface for final painting, most paint brands require their own primers for warranty coverage, making an extra primer coat optional. You can paint it using any standard water-based or synthetic paint. For a flawless finish, sand any joint fillers with 180-220 grit before painting.
How does this material compare to traditional gypsum plaster or wood?
This rigid polymer offers major advantages: it is significantly lighter than plaster, making it easier to install without structural reinforcement, and it is shatter-resistant. Unlike wood, it does not rot, warp, or attract wood-boring insects, ensuring a much longer lifespan with minimal maintenance.
Is the column load-bearing, and can it support heavy objects?
While extremely dense (150-220 kg/m³) and strong enough to easily support decorative items like planters, statues, or light architectural elements, these columns are designed primarily for decorative purposes. They should not be used as primary load-bearing structural supports for buildings without internal structural steel or concrete reinforcement.
What type of adhesive should be used for mounting?
You must use a specialized polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive for all joints and contact surfaces. Do not use standard silicone adhesives, as they do not provide the necessary bonding strength. Mechanical fastening with screws is also mandatory to ensure a secure and permanent installation.
