The P81374 architectural moulding is engineered to deliver sophisticated indirect lighting, blending seamlessly into contemporary and minimalist interiors. Designed to bridge the transition between walls and ceilings, this profile functions as a concealed channel that houses LED strips. By reflecting light off adjacent surfaces, it produces a soft, ambient glow that enhances the perceived height and volume of any room, eliminating harsh glares and shadows.
Manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-220 kg/m³), this lightweight profile offers the structural integrity and crisp detailing of traditional wood without the associated weight or vulnerability. With dimensions of 180 mm in height, 50 mm in depth, and a generous length of 2400 mm, it ensures fewer joints during installation. The material boasts dimensional stability tested between -20 °C and +70 °C and a water absorption rate of under 1%, guaranteeing that the profile will not shrink, warp, or crack over time.
Visually, the P81374 features a refined, unornamented concave curve that sweeps outward to form a clean, functional ledge. This minimalist geometry is specifically designed to direct light upward and outward in a uniform pattern. The back of the profile is engineered with integrated structural ribbing, which not only provides a secure cavity for LED strip placement but also increases the surface area for superior adhesive bonding during mounting.
This versatile profile is highly suited for premium residential and commercial projects. It is frequently specified for living rooms, bedrooms, and dining areas to establish a relaxed mood, as well as in hotel lobbies, corporate boardrooms, and corridors to guide paths elegantly. Because of its exceptional moisture resistance, it can also be safely installed in humid spaces like luxurious bathrooms, indoor pools, or even covered outdoor entryways.
Compared to heavy, fragile plaster coving or easily damaged EPS foam, this tough polyurethane moulding is shatterproof and highly durable. Installation requires preparing a clean, dry surface, executing precise 45-degree miter cuts, and applying a quality polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive—never use standard silicone. Secure the profile mechanically with screws, fill joints with acrylic putty, sand with 180-220 grit paper, and finish with two coats of paint. The factory-applied primer prepares the surface, though an additional primer coat may be applied based on your paint manufacturer's guidelines.
- The P81374 indirect lighting profile is exceptionally versatile, designed primarily for high-end interior ceiling applications
- It serves as an ideal ambient light source in modern living rooms, master bedrooms, and home theaters, where soft, dimmable lighting is preferred
- In commercial settings, it is highly effective in hotel reception areas, retail boutiques, and upscale restaurants to define spatial boundaries and add architectural depth
- Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details
- Additionally, when finished with a UV-resistant exterior topcoat, it can be installed under outdoor balcony soffits, porch ceilings, or building eaves to provide elegant perimeter illumination for facades
- To install the P81374 profile, start by ensuring that both the wall and ceiling surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dust
- Measure and cut the profiles to the required lengths, using a miter saw at a 45-degree angle for seamless corner joins
- Apply a continuous bead of high-performance polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive along the mounting tracks on the back of the profile; do not use silicone adhesive
- Press the profile firmly into place
- For safety and structural stability, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory
- Fill all screw holes and joint connections with an appropriate acrylic putty, and once dry, sand the areas smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- Finally, apply two coats of water-based or synthetic paint
- If installing outdoors, a UV-resistant exterior paint is required
- Maintaining the P81374 profile is simple due to its dense, non-porous surface
- Regular dusting with a dry microfiber cloth or a soft brush feather duster is sufficient to keep the light channel clean
- For deeper cleaning, especially in kitchens or bathrooms, wipe the surface gently with a damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive household detergent
- Avoid using harsh chemical solvents, bleach, or abrasive scouring pads, as these can damage the paint finish
- Because polyurethane is highly impact-resistant, it easily withstands minor bumps, but if physical damage does occur, it can be repaired effortlessly using standard joint filler, sanded down, and repainted to match
Can the P81374 indirect lighting profile be installed in damp environments?
Yes. Polyurethane has low water absorption (below 1%), making it moisture-resistant. It will not rot, swell, or support mold growth, making it ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, and indoor pool areas.
What adhesive should I use to mount this profile?
You must use a heavy-duty polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive. Standard silicone adhesives do not provide the necessary long-term structural bond and should be avoided entirely.
Does the profile require an extra coat of primer before painting?
The profile is supplied with a factory-applied matte white primer that prepares the surface for painting. However, paint manufacturers often require their own primers to validate paint warranties, so applying an extra compatible primer coat is optional but recommended.
Is polyurethane better than plaster for indirect LED lighting?
Absolutely. Polyurethane is significantly lighter, making installation safer and faster. Unlike fragile plaster, it is shatterproof and impact-resistant, and it offers much sharper, cleaner lines than typical EPS foam alternatives.
Can I use this LED profile on outdoor building facades?
Yes, it is suitable for outdoor use, particularly under eaves, canopies, or balconies. However, to protect the polyurethane from UV-induced yellowing over time, you must paint the profile with a high-quality, UV-resistant exterior paint.
