A decorative support corbel is a polyurethane bracket-shaped element placed beneath shelves, counters or projections, appearing to bear a load. Beneath shelves and counters and at cornice and beam corners, it serves both as ornament and as a visible support. The polyurethane material is light and is applied to the wall with assembly adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted. Being lighter than stone and wood alternatives, it is easy to install. The corbel is primarily decorative; when it must bear a heavy load, a concealed metal support is used beneath it.
