exterior facade base

An exterior facade base is a polyurethane seating piece placed at the foot of a column, pilaster or decorative element on a building's outer facade. It is used to give the column or pilaster a clean start on the facade and to maintain visual integrity. The polyurethane material is lightweight and is fixed to the facade with mounting adhesive and mechanical fasteners. It resists moisture, rain and sun; it does not crack, blister or rot and can be painted with exterior facade paint. Being far lighter than a stone base, it adds no extra load to the facade, and compared with wood it does not absorb moisture. Because it is mould-produced, the base profile and size repeat identically on each piece and are chosen to suit the column diameter.
