classic column head

A classic column head is a polyurethane capital element placed at the upper end of a classic column shaft, forming the transition between the shaft and the ceiling or beam. It is used to complete the column's classic form and decorate the upper transition. The polyurethane material is lightweight and applied directly with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted. Being much lighter than a stone or plaster capital, it is easy to install at height. Because each piece is mould-cast, the ornament details repeat identically across every unit.
