Polyurethane Ionic Pilaster Capital Decorative Column Head

The P5025IP architectural pilaster capital is a premium decorative element designed to bring the classical symmetry of the historical Ionic order to modern facades and interiors. Serving as the crowning transition for flat wall columns, this capital adds structural definition and a sense of refined proportion to any wall surface. It is engineered to seamlessly integrate with standard pilaster shafts, making it a preferred choice for architects and interior designers aiming for authentic classical detailing.

Manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane, the capital offers exceptional physical durability with a density of 150-220 kg/m³, mirroring the strength and workability of natural wood without its vulnerabilities. Measuring 35.3 cm in width, 24.2 cm in height, and 8.3 cm in depth, the component is robust yet lightweight. Its closed-cell composition ensures water absorption remains under one percent, preventing rot, mold, warping, or cracking even when exposed to harsh outdoor climates; dimensional stability has been tested between -20 °C and +70 °C.

The design of the P5025IP showcases the iconic double-scroll volutes characteristic of Greek and Roman architecture. A central relief featuring classic egg-and-dart ornamentation and stylized botanical carvings bridges the two spiraling scrolls, creating a visually striking focal point. The clean, straight lines of the top abacus contrast beautifully with the organic curves below, ensuring a crisp transition between the wall column and the ceiling or architrave above.

This versatile column head is highly adaptable for both indoor and outdoor environments. In exterior applications, it is commonly used to crown pilasters framing grand entrance doors, porticos, and window surrounds on classical villa facades. Indoors, it serves as a sophisticated finishing touch for wall panels in spacious living rooms, hotel lobbies, corridors, and decorative fireplace mantels, where it adds depth and architectural interest.

Compared to traditional plaster or gypsum, this polyurethane alternative is shatterproof and dramatically lighter, simplifying the installation process and reducing labor costs. The capital arrives with a factory-applied primer that prepares the surface for finishing. To install, apply a polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive to the back, press it onto the dry surface, and secure it mechanically with screws. Finish by filling joints with a suitable filler, sanding, and applying two coats of water-based or synthetic paint.
