A furniture decoration is the singular term for a polyurethane decorative element added to a furniture surface; it can take the form of an appliqué, relief, crown or motif. It is used for decoration on surfaces such as cabinet doors, drawer fronts or display unit edges. Polyurethane is lightweight and applied directly with assembly adhesive or wood glue; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted. Being lighter than carved wood, it adds no load to the surface, and it is more break-resistant than plaster. Because it is mould-cast, details repeat identically on every piece.
