Furniture ornaments is the common name for the polyurethane decorative appliqué, relief and crown pieces added to furniture surfaces. These ornaments are used for decoration on cabinet doors, drawer fronts, display units and headboards. Polyurethane is lightweight and applied directly to the surface with assembly adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted. It is lighter and faster to mount than carved wood ornaments and more break-resistant than plaster. Because it is mould-cast, ornament details repeat identically on every piece.
