pilaster base

A pilaster base is a polyurethane seating element placed at the foot of a pilaster that connects the shaft to the floor. It is used to give the pilaster a balanced start and classic proportion; on facades and in interiors it is applied together with the pilaster shaft. Polyurethane is lightweight and is applied directly with adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Compared with plaster, the risk of breakage is low; compared with wood, it stands up to damp. Because it is moulded, the profile repeats identically on every piece. Polure produces pilaster bases in sizes to suit different pilaster widths.
