Fluted Pilaster

A fluted pilaster is a decorative polyurethane column element applied half-embedded in the wall, with vertical grooves on its body. A pilaster is a flat-backed element that projects slightly from the wall and gives a column effect; in fluted models, the grooves on the body create vertical lines and a light-and-shadow transition. It is used to frame door and window edges, divide wide walls and build classical architectural compositions. Being made of polyurethane, it is lightweight and, thanks to its flat back, easily bonded to the wall with adhesive; it resists moisture and impact and does not crack or warp. Since the surface can be painted, it can be matched to the wall colour. Polure produces fluted pilasters with matching capital and base pieces and standard flute spacing. This way, the pilaster forms a unified facade or interior arrangement together with the surrounding casings and cornice elements.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a fluted pilaster and a column?

A pilaster is half-embedded in the wall and flat-backed; a full column is a cylindrical body that stands independently or wraps around a column.

Is pilaster installation difficult?

Is it used together with a capital and base?

Yes, when used with matching capital and base pieces, a unified pilaster composition is achieved.
