Installation
The installation of a ceiling dome requires a clean, flat, and dry substrate. Begin by marking the exact layout on the ceiling. If the dome includes outer decorative moldings that require miter cuts, execute precise 45-degree cuts. Apply a high-quality polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive generously to the rear mounting flanges of the dome. Do NOT use silicone-based adhesives, as they do not provide the necessary long-term bond strength. Mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory to secure the dome structurally while the adhesive cures. Once fixed, fill all joint lines and screw heads with a suitable joint compound or putty. After curing, sand the filled areas using 180-220 grit sandpaper to achieve a perfectly seamless surface. Finally, apply an optional primer coat followed by two coats of high-quality paint. For outdoor installations, the use of UV-resistant paint is mandatory to prevent yellowing.
Care Information
Maintaining rigid foam domes is simple due to their highly stable, non-porous surface. Regular maintenance involves dry dusting with a soft microfibre cloth or an electrostatic duster to prevent dust accumulation. For deeper cleaning, a damp cloth with a mild, non-abrasive detergent can be used safely. Because the material exhibits a water absorption rate under 1%, it will not warp or swell when exposed to moisture.
