Flexible Polyurethane Profile Application Guide
Flexible polyurethane profiles are decorative solutions that simplify cornice, moulding and border applications on curved and rounded surfaces. Model selection, surface shape and installation method all influence the result.

What is a flexible profile and how does it differ from a rigid profile?
A flexible polyurethane profile is a decorative profile produced with the flexibility needed to follow curved surfaces.
The same pattern and section may be considered in flexible or rigid versions; the main difference is how readily the product follows the surface shape. Rigid profiles are used on straight surfaces, while flexible profiles can be installed along curved and circular lines.
Where are flexible profiles used?
Flexible profiles are used for cornice, moulding and border applications on curved and rounded surfaces.
- Decorative moulding and border applications on curved walls
- Cornice or moulding applications around round columns
- Oval and circular ceiling transitions
- Inside arches and along curved transitions
- Around bay windows and on architectural surfaces with rounded lines
A flexible profile can also be considered for finishing around curved wall panels where a profile that follows the surface is required.
Which models are available in flexible versions?
Flexible production is assessed according to the product model and section.
The flexible version is produced to order, and suitability is confirmed during the quotation process. The same model may be available in rigid and flexible versions; a final assessment considers the surface, model and section together.
How much can a flexible profile bend?
The bending radius of a flexible profile varies according to its model and section.
The radius of the application surface should be provided during the quotation process. This information helps assess whether the selected profile is suitable for flexible production and compatible with the surface.
How is a flexible profile installed?
A flexible profile is fixed to the surface by pressing it into PU-based mounting adhesive.
To help the profile follow the surface shape, it should be pressed into position during installation and temporarily supported where necessary. The adhesive curing time should be considered according to 60–90 min clamping in the adhesive, full strength after 2–3 days.
Joints are finished with paintable acrylic filler. Silicone is not used for flexible profile installation.
How is a flexible profile painted?
A flexible profile is painted with a suitable primer and water-based paint.
After surface preparation, apply the primer and allow it to dry. Use water-based paint for the top coat, taking the profile surface and the characteristics of the room into account when selecting the paint.
