The cornice category by Polure offers high-density rigid polyurethane (PU) decorative profiles designed as a superior alternative to traditional gypsum plaster and heavy wood moldings. Engineered with a closed-cell structural density of 150-220 kg/m³ (production target ~160 kg/m³), these profiles combine the crisp, sharp detailing of carved wood with a lightweight structure that does not add unnecessary load to the building's structural frame.

Technical Performance and Structural Integrity

Unlike fragile plaster alternatives, Polure cornice profiles possess high impact resistance and dimensional stability. Under varying indoor climates, the material experiences no warping, shrinkage, or thermal expansion within a temperature range of -100 °C / +80 °C. With a negligible water absorption rate of under 1%, these rigid PU profiles are completely rot-resistant, preventing mold growth and material decay in high-humidity zones. In terms of safety, the material exhibits self-extinguishing properties, meaning it ceases to burn once the external flame source is removed.

Dimensional Variety and Architectural Profiles

The collection accommodates diverse design languages through precise dimensional variations. For compact spaces requiring subtle transitions, models like P81005 (58x2440x55 mm) and P81013 (68x2440x65 mm) offer clean proportions. Mid-scale residential projects with standard ceiling heights of 2.60 to 2.80 meters benefit from balanced profiles such as P81071 (112x2440x90 mm) and P81089 (102x2440x100 mm). For monumental public spaces, high-ceilinged lobbies, or historical restorations, prominent options like P81088 (90x2440x100 mm), P81110 (107x2440x110 mm), or the grand P81134 (125x2400x130 mm) establish visual balance. Specialty elements like 2P81175 (210x1540x470 mm) allow architects to implement elaborate custom ceiling configurations.

Surface Coating and Paint Guidelines

Each profile is shipped with a factory-applied primer that prepares the surface for paint adhesion. While this factory coating ensures a receptive surface, paint manufacturers typically do not extend performance warranties to surfaces painted without their own proprietary primers. Consequently, the application of an additional primer layer prior to final painting is optional and remains at the sole preference of the client. Polure does not guarantee any third-party paint products and accepts no liability for paint finish failures.

Profile heights and specification

The governing dimension is the height the profile drops from the ceiling. Available heights run from and bars are supplied at 2400-2440 mm (1405-1540 mm on wide classic models), which keeps take-off simple: divide the running metres by the bar length.

Living-room specification

In a living room the cornice sets the perimeter of the ceiling plane. Below 2.70 m a 90-130 mm profile keeps proportion; between 2.70 and 3.00 m specify 150-200 mm; above three metres 218 mm and wider stays legible from the seating position. Detail three points on the drawing: 45° mitres at every return, symmetrical joint spacing on long walls, and the interface with curtain boxes or suspended ceiling steps.

How the price is built up

Four items drive the figure: section (height and width), pattern workmanship, quantity in running metres and roughly 10% cutting waste. Prices cover the product only; delivery and installation are separate and goods are ex-works. Quotations are free and valid for 7 days.

Wet rooms and concealed lighting

Closed-cell polyurethane absorbs less than 1% water, so cornices can be specified in bathrooms and kitchens where plaster would fail. Cornice profiles contain no LED channel: where concealed lighting is required, the dedicated hidden-light profiles are specified alongside them.
