The P85036 profile represents a sophisticated architectural solution designed to create clean, defined transitions on walls and ceilings. Measuring 23 mm in thickness, 82 mm in height, and 2400 mm in length, this flat moulding serves as a versatile element for modern and classical spaces alike. Its engineered structure offers sharp lines and a smooth surface that brings architectural depth to any residential or commercial interior.
Manufactured from high-density rigid polymer (150-220 kg/m³), this profile combines the structural strength of hardwood with a lightweight composition that prevents structural strain. The closed-cell material has low water absorption (below 1%), making it resistant to warping, swelling, or rotting. It remains dimensionally stable under temperature fluctuations from -20 °C / +70 °C, supporting long-lasting performance and helping reduce cracking at the joints.
Visually, the P85036 features a distinctive stepped edge profile that transitions into a subtle ogee curve, framing a perfectly flat and smooth central face. This geometric balance makes it highly adaptable for contemporary, Art Deco, or transitional designs. The profile arrives with a factory-applied primer coat that ensures excellent paint adhesion. While this surface is ready for finish coats, paint manufacturers often require their own specific undercoats to validate warranties; therefore, applying an additional primer is optional and left to the installer's discretion.
This multi-functional moulding excels as a horizontal chair rail, a decorative wall frame (boiserie), or a sophisticated door and window casing. For exterior projects, it functions beautifully as a horizontal facade band (kat silmesi) to delineate floors, provided it is finished with a high-quality, UV-resistant paint to prevent discoloration from sunlight.
Installation is straightforward and efficient compared to heavy plaster or moisture-sensitive MDF. The moulding is easily cut using standard mitre saws at 45-degree angles. Secure mounting requires a combination of high-performance polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive and mechanical screws. Once fixed, joints and screw heads are filled with acrylic filler, lightly sanded with 180-220 grit sandpaper, and completed with two coats of water-based or synthetic paint.
- The P85036 profile is designed for a wide array of interior and exterior architectural applications
- In residential spaces such as living rooms, dining areas, and master bedrooms, it serves as a refined chair rail or wall-framing element to create classic boiserie panels
- It is also highly effective as a clean-lined transition moulding between walls and ceilings, hiding minor construction imperfections
- In commercial environments, including hotel lobbies, executive offices, and fine dining restaurants, this moulding adds visual structure without overwhelming the design scheme
- When used on exterior facades, it serves as a decorative band or window surround, adding depth to modern villa designs
- Additionally, its moisture-resistant nature makes it ideal for humid environments like high-end bathrooms, spa areas, and indoor pool lounges where traditional wood or MDF mouldings would quickly fail due to humidity
- For exterior applications, applying a UV-stable topcoat is mandatory to maintain its original appearance against weathering
- Begin by ensuring the installation surface is clean, dry, and free of dust
- Measure and cut the profiles to the desired lengths, utilizing a mitre saw at a 45-degree angle for seamless corner joints
- Apply a continuous bead of high-performance polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive along the back mounting surfaces of the profile; do not use silicone-based adhesives
- Press the moulding firmly against the wall and secure it mechanically using screws or finishing nails to ensure stability while the adhesive cures
- Once the adhesive has fully set, fill all joint lines and screw holes with a high-quality acrylic joint filler
- After drying, gently sand these areas using 180-220 grit sandpaper to achieve a perfectly seamless transition
- Finally, apply your chosen topcoat paint
- An additional primer coat prior to painting is optional but recommended if required by your paint manufacturer's warranty guidelines
- Maintaining the clean appearance of the P85036 profile is simple and hassle-free
- For regular cleaning, gently wipe the surface with a damp cloth or a soft sponge dipped in mild soapy water
- Avoid using abrasive pads, steel wool, or harsh chemical solvents containing acids, as these can damage the paint finish
- For exterior installations, we recommend a brief annual inspection to check the integrity of the paint coat; recoating may be necessary over time to maintain UV protection
- In the event of accidental impact damage, the profile can be easily restored to its original state by applying a small amount of acrylic wall filler, sanding it smooth, and spot-painting the area
Can this profile be safely installed on exterior facades?
Yes, the P85036 is fully suitable for outdoor use, such as facade bands or window surrounds. Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details. However, to prevent yellowing or degradation from solar exposure, coating the installed profile with a high-quality, UV-resistant exterior paint is mandatory.
What is the best adhesive to use for mounting this moulding?
For secure and long-lasting installation, you must use a high-quality PU assembly adhesive. Do not use standard silicone adhesives, as they do not provide the necessary structural bond. Mechanical fastening with screws or nails is also required to hold the profile firmly in place while the adhesive cures.
Does the moulding require an additional primer before painting?
The profile comes pre-primed from the factory, preparing the surface for immediate painting. However, because many premium paint manufacturers do not warranty their coatings unless applied over their own brand-specific primers, applying an additional undercoat is an optional step. The decision is left to the installer based on the specific paint system chosen.
How does this polymer material compare to traditional plaster or MDF?
Unlike heavy plaster, this high-density polymer is lightweight, shatterproof, and easy to handle during installation. Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details. This makes it a much more durable, low-maintenance choice for both damp interior spaces and exterior facades.
Can this profile be used to create custom wall paneling or boiserie?
Absolutely. With its 82 mm height and 23 mm depth, the P85036 is perfectly proportioned for creating geometric wall panels, wainscoting frames, and chair rails. Its clean, stepped edges allow for beautiful, seamless mitre joints, making it a favorite among interior designers for contemporary and transitional wall detailing.
