A wood-textured rafter is a polyurethane profile with a surface worked to look like wood grain, creating a decorative beam effect on the ceiling. Fitted lengthwise along the ceiling, it gives the look of a timber beam in rustic or country-style spaces and is used on the ceilings of living rooms, restaurants and cafes. Polyurethane is light; unlike a real timber beam it needs no structural fixing and bonds directly to the ceiling with mounting adhesive. It resists moisture and impact, and unlike timber it does not rot, attract insects or crack, and is paintable. The wood grain on its surface is mould-cast, so it looks identical on every piece.
