An exterior facade door surround is a polyurethane decorative profile applied to the sides and top of a building's exterior door, framing the door opening. It is used to emphasise the door edges and give the entrance a clean framed look. The polyurethane material is lightweight and is fixed to the facade with mounting adhesive and mechanical fasteners. It resists moisture, rain and sun; it does not crack, blister or rot and can be painted with exterior facade paint. Being far lighter than a stone surround, installation is faster, and compared with wood it does not absorb moisture or rot. Because it is mould-produced, the surround profile continues in the same cross-section on all edges and joins cleanly at the corners.
