ionic column head
The ionic column head is a polyurethane capital element placed at the top of Ionic order columns, recognised by the volutes curling on either side. It forms the transition between the column shaft and the structure above, completing the capital section of the column. It is used on decorative columns indoors and outdoors. Polyurethane is lightweight; it is applied to the column shaft with mounting adhesive, resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Being lighter than its stone and plaster equivalent, it is easy to install at height. Because it is mould-cast, the volute curves repeat identically on every piece. Polure produces the ionic column head in sizes suitable for different column diameters.
