classical architectural corbel

A classical architectural corbel is a decorative support element that projects from the wall, designed to appear to support a surface or overhang. In classical architecture it is used under eaves, shelves, and overhangs to give a load-bearing appearance and to emphasise transitions. Corbels made from polyurethane are lightweight and, unlike stone or wood versions, mount directly with construction adhesive. They resist moisture and impact, will not crack or swell, and can be painted. Because they are mould-cast, the scroll and volute details repeat identically on every piece.
