The P1950 decorative ornament is an exceptional architectural element designed to bring an authentic rustic charm to premium interior and exterior concepts. Perfectly replicating the classic form of an antique timber wagon wheel, this lightweight alternative allows designers to introduce warm, country-inspired aesthetics to ceilings and walls without the structural load and decay issues associated with real salvaged hardwood.
Measuring a substantial 860x860 mm with a depth of 175 mm, this piece serves as an eye-catching focal point. It is manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-220 kg/m³), providing a solid, wood-like hardness while remaining remarkably lightweight. With a closed-cell structural composition, its water absorption rate is below 1%, helping reduce the risk of warping, shrinking, or splitting. Its dimensional stability has been tested between -20 °C and +70 °C.
Visually, the ornament boasts a high-fidelity wood grain texture that captures the raw beauty of weathered oak. The design features ten robust spokes radiating from a prominent central hub, framed by a segmented outer rim complete with realistic hand-carved imperfections, grain separations, and rustic cracks. This deep texturing ensures that once painted, the product is virtually indistinguishable from genuine aged timber.
This versatile accent is highly favored in commercial hospitality design, such as alpine hotels, traditional taverns, themed restaurants, and rustic cafes, where it is often utilized as a unique ceiling medallion for hanging wrought-iron chandeliers. In residential projects, it excels as dimensional wall art in double-height living rooms, covered verandas, or enclosed patios, seamlessly complementing exposed ceiling beam layouts.
Compared to heavy plaster or high-maintenance timber, this material is highly durable, holds up well against rot, and resists pests. Installation is straightforward: ensure the mounting surface is clean and dry, apply a high-quality polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive to the contact areas, and secure the piece mechanically with screws. After filling the screw holes and gaps with a suitable filler, the factory-primed surface can be finished with any quality water-based or synthetic paint to match your design palette.
- This decorative wheel is specifically designed for thematic architectural styling both indoors and in sheltered outdoor areas
- It serves as an excellent rustic ceiling centerpiece, particularly when positioned above vintage chandeliers or pendant lighting in mountain chalets, country houses, and themed restaurants
- It is also highly effective as dimensional wall art in spacious residential foyers, corridors, and cozy living spaces with high ceilings
- When finished with a high-quality, UV-resistant exterior paint, it can be safely installed on veranda ceilings, covered patios, and garden walls to enhance farmhouse or Mediterranean-style outdoor living spaces
- Ensure the target surface is fully clean, dry, and structurally sound
- Apply a premium polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive generously to the back mounting surfaces of the wheel
- Press the ornament firmly against the wall or ceiling
- Due to its 175 mm depth and decorative scale, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory for safety
- Once secured, cover all screw heads and connection gaps with a suitable acrylic filler
- After the filler cures, sand the spots lightly with 180-220 grit sandpaper
- The product comes with a factory-applied primer; however, we recommend consulting your paint supplier regarding additional primer coats to ensure their specific paint warranty remains valid before applying two coats of your chosen topcoat
- The product requires minimal maintenance
- Dust periodically using a soft, dry cloth or a feather duster
- For deeper cleaning, a damp cloth with mild soapy water is sufficient; avoid harsh chemical solvents or abrasive cleaning pads
- For outdoor installations, ensure the UV-resistant paint layer is periodically inspected and recoated if necessary to prevent sun-induced fading over the years
Can this decorative wheel be installed on outdoor walls or ceilings?
Yes, thanks to its closed-cell polyurethane structure, the product absorbs virtually no moisture (under 1%) and is highly weather-resistant. For outdoor applications such as verandas or patios, you must coat it with a high-quality UV-resistant paint to protect the material from sun damage.
How heavy is the P1950 wheel compared to a real wooden one?
With a density of 150-220 kg/m³, this ornament is exceptionally lightweight compared to solid timber. This makes it highly safe and easy to mount on standard drywall or plaster ceilings without requiring heavy-duty structural reinforcement.
Does the product arrive pre-painted in a wood finish?
No, the product is delivered with a white factory primer coat. This provides an ideal surface for you to apply your own choice of water-based or synthetic paints, allowing you to customize the wood tone (such as dark oak, walnut, or antique pine) to match your specific interior color scheme.
What type of adhesive is recommended for installation?
You must use a high-quality polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive for bonding. Do not use standard silicone adhesives, as they do not provide the necessary structural hold for rigid polyurethane products. Mechanical fastening with screws is also required.
What are the main advantages of this material over real wood?
Unlike real wood, this high-density material will not warp, crack, rot, or attract wood-boring insects over time. It offers the exact visual depth and grain details of natural aged timber but at a fraction of the weight, making installation faster, safer, and completely maintenance-free.
