Polyurethane Faux Wood Beams and Rafters

Architectural Timber Replication with Modern Materials

The rustic appeal of traditional wooden architecture remains a highly sought-after design element in contemporary projects. The Kiriş - rafter - Kütük product line from Polure offers a sophisticated alternative to heavy timber, replicating the deep texture, grain patterns, and visual warmth of authentic wood without the structural drawbacks. Manufactured from high-density rigid polymer, these decorative beams, rafters, and log panels provide architects and interior designers with the freedom to incorporate historic aesthetics into modern buildings. Whether aiming to recreate the warm interior of an Alpine chalet or the structured ceiling of a Mediterranean estate, these lightweight elements integrate effortlessly into any ceiling or wall layout.

Technical Performance and Material Density

Unlike natural timber, which is susceptible to environmental degradation, our Kiriş - rafter - Kütük elements are engineered for long-term durability. With a density of 150-220 kg/m³, these profiles offer a robust, wood-like surface hardness while remaining exceptionally light. This low weight minimizes dead load calculations on ceilings, allowing for easier, safer installations. The material is highly stable, maintaining its precise dimensions without shrinking, expanding, or warping. Its dimensional stability has been tested between -20 °C and +70 °C. Additionally, its closed-cell structure keeps water absorption under 1%, making it highly resistant to rot, mold, and insect damage.

Product Range and Model Specifications

The collection comprises diverse profiles designed to address specific architectural needs. For extensive wall or ceiling cladding, log panels such as the P1923, P1927, and P1940 models deliver the rugged texture of split logs. The P1927 model (26x3000x270 mm), for example, features deeply molded grain patterns that create a realistic tactile experience. For overhead ceiling frameworks, the hollow beam profiles P1981A and P1981B can be installed as false rafters to add geometric depth to flat ceilings. This system is fully supported by matching corbels like the P1981AK and P1981BK, alongside P1981AKA joint covers that seamlessly conceal structural seams. Decorative accessories, including the P1950 and P1950A rustic wheels, allow for thematic customization in commercial designs.

Structural Advantages over Traditional Timber

Specifying high-density polymer beams offers significant practical advantages over heavy timber or basic EPS foam alternatives. Real wood is prone to cracking, twisting, and infestation, requiring ongoing maintenance and chemical treatments. EPS foam, while light, lacks the surface hardness and fine texture detail required for high-touch interior zones. Our rigid polymer products bridge this gap by delivering the structural integrity of dense material alongside highly detailed surface replication. They can be cut, mitered, sanded, and painted with standard woodworking tools, providing a durable, low-maintenance finish that lasts for decades.

Design Adaptability in Modern Projects

The versatility of our Kiriş - rafter - Kütük range makes it suitable for both interior and exterior applications. In interior spaces, they are used to break up large ceiling spans, hide electrical conduits, or support rustic lighting fixtures. On exterior facades, they replicate traditional timber framing, corbels, and roof overhang supports. Because raw polymer may discolor when exposed to ultraviolet radiation, applying a high-quality UV-resistant paint is mandatory for all exterior installations. This protective coating ensures the product retains its color and structural integrity under constant exposure to sunlight and harsh weather.
