classic column shaft

A classic column shaft is the polyurethane part forming the main vertical section of a classic column between the base and the capital. With its flat or fluted surface, it determines the shaft height and appearance of the column. The polyurethane material is lightweight and applied directly with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted. Being much lighter than a stone or plaster shaft, it is easy to carry and install and, unlike timber, is not affected by moisture. Because each piece is mould-cast, the flute details repeat identically across every unit. Polure produces the classic column shaft as flat and fluted in various diameter and height options.
