Decorative Fluted Polyurethane Column Shaft

The P5850 decorative column shaft is a premium architectural element designed to bring neoclassical grandeur to high-end residential and commercial projects. Featuring a substantial 500x500 mm profile and a height of 2400 mm, this product allows architects and designers to introduce majestic vertical proportions to entrance portals, facades, and spacious interiors. It serves as an ideal solution for creating high-impact visual statements that honor classical Greek and Roman design principles.

Engineered from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-220 kg/m³), this column shaft offers the structural feel and durability of traditional wood or stone without the associated weight. Its lightweight characteristics prevent unnecessary load on building foundations and structural envelopes, facilitating safer and faster handling on-site. Thanks to its closed-cell composition, the material exhibits a water absorption rate under 1%, making it highly resistant to rotting, swelling, splitting, and insect damage even in high-humidity zones.

Visually, the P5850 is characterized by its deep, symmetrical fluted vertical grooves. These channels run the full length of the shaft, capturing ambient light and creating soft shadow lines that enhance the column's perceived height and elegance. The hollow interior of the shaft is perfectly suited for concealing structural steel supports, concrete pillars, or utility lines, transforming functional elements into refined decorative assets. It can be seamlessly combined with various Doric, Ionic, or Corinthian capitals and bases to complete the classical architectural order.

This versatile column shaft is widely specified for luxury villa entrances, hotel lobbies, grand reception halls, wedding venues, and upscale restaurant interiors. Its robust material properties make it equally reliable for exterior applications, such as framing grand porticos, supporting veranda roofs, or defining garden pergolas. Because dimensional stability has been tested between -20 °C and +70 °C without warping or losing detail, it maintains its pristine appearance across diverse climatic conditions.

Compared to heavy plaster, brittle GFRC, or high-maintenance timber, this polyurethane alternative drastically reduces labor costs and installation time. The installation process is straightforward: clean and dry all contact zones, apply a high-quality polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive to the joints, and secure the column mechanically with screws. After filling the joint lines and screw heads, the surface can be lightly sanded and painted with any high-quality water-based or synthetic coating. For outdoor installations, a UV-resistant paint is required to protect the material from solar discoloration.
