A pilaster pedestal is the polyurethane base piece that forms the foot of a pilaster, the half-embedded decorative column on a wall, raising the body above floor level. It is used on interior and exterior facade walls as the lower termination of the pilaster system, providing a profiled transition between the body and the floor. The polyurethane material is lightweight; it is fixed directly to the wall with mounting adhesive and, where needed, screws. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted; compared with its plaster equivalent it is lighter and more resistant to breakage.
