door casing ornament

A door casing ornament is a decorative polyurethane detailing element added to a door casing or applied as part of it. It is used to decorate the corners, top or surface of the casing and give the door a classical emphasis. The polyurethane material is lightweight and is applied directly with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, blister or warp, and can be painted. Unlike wood alternatives, it is not affected by moisture and shows no deformation over time. Since it is mould-cast, the ornament details repeat identically on every piece, which provides symmetrical detailing on both sides of the casing.
